About this event
Join us on November 17 at 6 PM for a screening and film discussion of a film adaptation of Ernest Hemingway's "A Farewell to Arms," featuring the local authors and Hemingway scholars Joel Burdess and Patrick Amelotte. Explore the life and literary legacy of Ernest Hemingway during this special film screening. Afterward, discover how Hemingway's time in Casper and the Cowboy State influenced his literary journey, including his work on "A Farewell to Arms," in a panel discussion and audience Q&A session with our guests. Joel Burdess is a Wyoming writer, artist, musician, and educator whose work has appeared in "The Wyoming Fences Anthology" and "South Dakota Review." A recipient of a Wyoming Arts Council fellowship in creative nonfiction, he has presented research at multiple International Hemingway Society conferences and continues to explore the connections between literature, history, and the American West. Patrick Amelotte has studied Hemingway's work for more than 40 years and taught his writing at Casper College for over two decades. Having carried Hemingway's short stories with him while serving in the Marine Corps infantry, he brings both scholarly expertise and personal experience to his exploration of the author's life and literature. This event is free and open to the public.
