ECONOMY NEWS

  • Natrona County’s gas price fell a dime to $2.46 per gallon last week + it remains among the state's three cheapest averages even as state rates rose to $2.64 per gallon.  Oil City News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Natrona County School District 1 Board of Trustees approved nearly $2.2 million in school maintenance projects on Tuesday. The approved work will upgrade lighting, intercom systems, and theater lights at several schools, with bids to be awarded using maintenance funds.  Oil City News
  • A survey at Midwest School found 95% of respondents support a four-day school week citing more focused instruction and reduced athletic conflicts. District officials will take public comments on Feb. 23 and vote on the change at a March 9 meeting before sending the proposal to the state board.  Oil City News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Snow, rain and cooler temperatures are forecast today and through Thursday in Casper and surrounding towns after one of the warmest winters on record; NWS warns of strong winds (and travel delays) with one road closure (District 4 due to an oversized load).  K2 Radio
  • Data from the National Centers for Environmental Information show that February 1954 was the hottest month in Wyoming since 1895 with an average of 32°F, as compiled by Stacker.   • A recent analysis found Wyoming's median rent is $1,236, making it the seventh lowest in the nation amid slowing rental rate increases.   • Breezy Johnson from Jackson Hole won the women’s downhill gold on Sunday at the Winter Olympics in Cortina, Italy with a time of 1:36.10, edging out Germany’s Emma Aicher by 0.04 seconds and becoming the first U.S. gold medalist of the Milano Cortina Games.  K2 Radio
