COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Casper officials closed K Street Skate Park after safety issues and began demolition Monday, March 23rd, while the new skate park at Marion Kreiner—designed for families—is already open. Plans at Mike Sedar Park will soon extend all-wheel recreation options.  The Cowboy

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gas prices across Wyoming rose 24 cents per gallon to $3.69 as seasonal demand and global supply issues push costs higher, with prices now nearly $1 above last month’s levels (diesel prices have surged to record highs since November 2022).  Jack FM

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Casper College's annual report showed slight enrollment gains this past fall, spring and summer while contributing $173.8 million to the county economy plus supporting about 2,500 jobs. The report released this year also underscores the college's role in workforce development and community services.  Oil City News
  • Casper families can join free outdoor preparedness workshops hosted by Wyoming Patriots on Saturday, June 20 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Beartrap Meadow on Casper Mountain; professionals will teach navigation, first aid, and fire starting + include a bouncy house and vendor fair.  Oil City News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The (4,500-acre) Sandpiper Fire is contained in Natrona County, but fire officials warn that today marks the start of a long, dry season. Crews patrol smoldering areas as residents are urged to remain cautious.  K2 Radio
  • At Monday evening’s town hall, residents questioned EG Haystack Solar’s 2,160-acre solar farm plan west of Casper, citing concerns about wildlife, road safety, and emergency response. The company is revising its application (after a previous denial) and expects construction to start late 2027 or early 2028.  Oil City News
