CRIME NEWS
- ➤ The Washakie County Sheriff’s Office announced on Monday that human remains found on March 23 have been identified as Breanna Mitchell through dental records (provided by her dental office). Her remains were discovered north of where her vehicle became stuck in July 2023, and investigators are continuing to determine the cause of death. Oil City News
- ➤ A 41-year-old Casper man was arrested Saturday after he stole a truck from a driveway — the truck owner fired his empty handgun 11 times, chased the stolen vehicle by ramming his own truck near a grocery store, and police later found bullet holes before the suspect, who showed signs of drug use and fought with medical staff, was scheduled to appear in court Tuesday. - ➤ A Casper man was sentenced to 12 to 18 years in prison for manslaughter after he fatally shot Brandon Arguello Lopez during a drug deal in west Casper on Feb 1 and also pleaded guilty to a charge of conspiracy to deliver marijuana. Oil City News

- ➤ Casper College is hosting a public forum on Friday, March 28 from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. at the Walter H. Nolte Gateway Center for presidential candidate Brandon R. Kosine, Ph.D. The forum lets the local community ask questions and fill out a survey — he has served as interim president since May 2024 — to share their views on his plans for the college. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Wyoming Transportation Commission awarded $21.49 million in contracts for eight Wyoming Department of Transportation projects at its March 20 meeting—these projects involve concrete slab replacement, bridge rehabilitation, left turn lane improvements, and chip seal work. The contracts, funded mostly with federal and state dollars, have completion dates from Aug. 31 to Nov. 30. Oil City News
