  • The Izaak Walton League will lead group hikes on odd Wednesdays from April through September at sites including Morad Park and Casper Mountain (weather permitting) to promote environmental conservation and community bonding; participants should bring water, snacks and proper footwear.  K2 Radio
  • Firefighters near Bighorn Canyon have made progress on the Kane Fire, reaching 75 percent containment as about half of the personnel began demobilizing today — crews will continue patrolling the burn area and extinguishing hot spots as officials keep roads closed in Yellowtail Wildlife Habitat Management Area for public safety.  Jack FM
  • Wyoming state engineers continue tough negotiations over water use as record-low snowpack and uncertain supplies from Flaming Gorge press local communities; state leaders warn southwest water users may face new restrictions if lower-basin partners make further cuts amid a severe hydrologic shortage.  Oil City News
  • The National Weather Service issued a Fire Weather Watch for Natrona County, Casper Mountain, and nearby ranges from Saturday afternoon through Monday evening as warm, dry conditions and gusty winds increase fire risk before a cold front arrives Monday night.  Oil City News

  • City of Casper announced that residential branch pickup will begin on April 1 and will occur on alternating weeks this month. Residents should bundle branches no longer than five feet and 50 pounds for curbside collection and processing at the local compost yard.  Oil City News
  • The Wyoming Game and Fish Department’s Sage Grouse Implementation Team is meeting on April 8 at 10 a.m. at the Wyoming Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, 2211 King Blvd — the public is welcome to attend as officials discuss efforts to sustain greater sage grouse populations.  Oil City News

  • Hogadon Basin Ski Area ended its season early on March 22 as warm weather melted the snow — officials said a spring storm might bring enough snow for one last weekend. Other local resorts closed early due to low snowfall and fewer visitors.  Wyoming News Now
  • A team of five Casper Swim Club athletes competed at the Western Winter Zone Championships in Mesa, Arizona last week and achieved personal bests while testing their skills with national competitors.
