COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The 27th annual BGCCW Awards and Recognition Breakfast will be held on Wednesday, September 17th at Ford Wyoming Center—doors open at 5:45 a.m., breakfast begins at 6:45 a.m., and the program starts at 7 a.m. The event will honor former Congresswoman Barbara Cubin and feature keynote speaker Will Reeve, son of Christopher Reeve, as he encourages support for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Wyoming.  K2 Radio

CRIME NEWS

  • Steven Marler, a former award-winning foster parent, is on trial in Natrona County District Court on charges of sexual abuse, battery and child endangerment after jurors viewed home videos showing a naked boy with marks on his leg as evidence of alleged abuse (the videos were recovered during a lengthy investigation).  Cowboy State Daily
  • Casper police said scammers sent fraudulent invoices to those doing business with the Planning and Zoning Commission and warned that the city does not accept wire transfers—if you get such an email, do not click links—and urged residents to report suspicious messages.  Oil City News

  • Casper College forensics standout Dani Schulz signed with the University of Nebraska–Lincoln to begin her forensics career on scholarship this fall — she is a two-time national gold medalist who has driven her team’s success.  The Cowboy
  • Casper College debate competitor Dani Schulz has signed with the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and will begin her forensics career on scholarship this fall — she is set to major in education. She is a two-time Phi Rho Pi national gold medalist who led her team to national championships.  Jack FM

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Yellowstone National Park will open select roads and entrances at 8 a.m. on April 18 for the summer season, with the North Entrance in Gardiner and West Entrance in West Yellowstone providing access to popular spots like Mammoth Hot Springs and Old Faithful. Entrance fees will be waived on April 19 in celebration of National Park Week — additional roads will open in May if weather permits.  Oil City News

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Wyoming’s chief economist Wenlin Liu reported that the housing market was overpriced as home prices increased 8.2% in the fourth quarter and 11% of buyers paid above list price because low inventory kept homeowners from selling their low interest rate properties. He noted that while employment and incomes grew, housing affordability reached a 40-year low — signaling challenges for homebuyers and a tight supply in the market.  Cowboy State Daily
