CRIME NEWS

  • The Natrona County weekly arrest log released in Casper covers April 4th—11th and lists multiple arrests with charges ranging from public intoxication to domestic battery and various warrants; it does not include juvenile cases, sexual charge suspects or those released before formal processing, and all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty.  Oil City News

ECONOMY NEWS

  • University of Wyoming Extension released a study that says if Wyoming shoppers spend 5% of their grocery money on local foods, local production could boost state GDP by $36.3 million. The study found that local food systems already add $24.4 million to GDP and noted increased sales (24 percent for retailers and 35 percent for consumers) along with challenges such as high transportation costs and limited cold storage, suggesting new public and private partnerships may help strengthen the local food economy.  Oil City News

  • Joan Barron explained how the late Sen. Robert Johnson used many amendments to limit government agency power and keep laws simple. She noted that Senate Bill 127 went beyond a basic review by adding a $400,000 study and Gov. Mark Gordon vetoed it—raising doubts that lawmakers followed their original intent.  Cowboy State Daily

  • Cowboy basketball head coach Sundance Wicks recently added Will Martin as an assistant coach after the two worked together at Missouri Western (where Martin compiled a 77-70 record and led the Griffons to an NCAA Tournament berth during the Covid-shortened season).  Oil City News
  • Wyoming’s freestyle skier Jaelin Kauf won two world freestyle skiing titles this winter — she clinched the dual moguls crown in Kazakhstan on March 1 and later earned the freestyle singles title in Livigno. She also captured a duals medal in St. Moritz before heading to next season’s Olympics in Cortina.  Oil City News
