ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A 58-year-old Texas driver, Michael Simmons, lost control of his tractor-trailer near Ten Sleep on April 10 at 8:49 a.m. after speeding on a left-hand curve, which caused his truck to flip and slide off the road (road and weather conditions were good) and he died in the crash.  Oil City News

CRIME NEWS

CULTURE NEWS

  • On Saturday, Cowboy State Daily’s Wendy Corr won the Wrangler Award for Outstanding Western Lifestyle Program for her podcast The Roundup featuring Longmire author Craig Johnson at the Western Heritage Awards in Oklahoma City — she shared the stage with Reba McEntire, Graham Greene and Brooks & Dunn as the event celebrated Wyoming’s Western heritage.  Cowboy State Daily
  • Kawasaki Heavy Industries unveiled a hydrogen-powered rideable robotic horse prototype called Corleo—designed to mimic a horse's natural movements through rider weight shifts—though its commercial release is more than 20 years away. • Casper artist Connie Morgan runs GloW Neon Lights on West Yellowstone Highway and uses her skills in bending glass into neon signs to restore Wyoming's vintage landmarks—she is repairing the old Cowboy sign at the Powder River Tumble Inn and working on a neon park project for the Frontier Auto Museum.  Cowboy State Daily

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Wyoming’s Enhanced Oil Recovery Institute is teaming with private firms to use CO2 injections to boost oil from old wells. The Beaver Creek field, which once produced only 17 barrels a day, surged to 7,000 barrels and yielded 15.3 million extra barrels — while new projects near Gillette plan to use innovative methods to get more oil from the ground.  Cowboy State Daily

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Seasoned mountain lion hunters say the big cats eat more small game than deer and that other predators may affect deer numbers more than mountain lions do. Hunting guide Trevor Marques and Doug Boykin noted that studies tracking mountain lions show varied prey habits, which adds complexity to managing both deer and mountain lion populations.  Cowboy State Daily
