COMMUNITY NEWS

  • On April 11, the Casper Humane Society received 19 dogs rescued from an overcrowded shelter in Abilene, Texas and placed them in quarantine to check their health as they wait for adoption. The nonprofit Dog is My CoPilot arranged the flight due to urgent concerns for these small dogs — the agency expects them to be available for adoption soon.  Oil City News

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Pine Bluffs Distilling has released a Joe Pickett-inspired bourbon today in a limited run of 1,000 bottles available at select retailers. A release party on Saturday will feature food trucks and a book signing by author C.J. Box—buyers are limited to one bottle with a portion of the proceeds supporting the Wyoming Hunger Initiative.  Cowboy State Daily

CRIME NEWS

  • On Sunday, an east side Walmart employee's call led officers to pull over a Subaru—driven by Casper resident Kevin Axcel Acosta-Morales, 29—resulting in his arrest on DUI and felony drug charges for allegedly leaving the store with two sodas, and he appeared in circuit court on Monday with a $5,000 bond set.  Oil City News

  • Casper's Ford Wyoming Center – once known as Casper Events Center – opened in 1982 and has hosted key events that built lasting memories for the community over 43 years. On Monday, April 17th, its official Facebook page shared throwback photos to honor the center's enduring legacy.  K2 Radio

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Wyoming Public Service Commission approved a settlement that will raise most Rocky Mountain Power bills by about $14 starting in June—cutting the company's original request from $123.5 million to about $85.5 million. The utility said rising fuel costs, higher wildfire insurance, and investments in renewable energy drove the increase.  Oil City News
