  • The Third Annual 5K Heroes Run will take place Saturday, May 3 at the Platte River Trails — Tate Pumphouse in Casper to support UW Casper Student Veteran Heroes Scholarships. Participants will check in at 9 a.m., the race will start at 10 a.m., and registration is $40 — students and veterans pay $20.  Oil City News
  • A nationwide 'No Kings' protest took place at Healing Park Saturday afternoon, and local demonstrators joined others to challenge old power structures—participants expressed their demand for change and free expression.  Casper Star-Tribune

CRIME NEWS

  • A federal judge sentenced a 25-year-old Casper woman to one month in prison, five months of home confinement, and one year of supervised release on April 17 for willfully failing to file tax returns for tax years 2017—2022 after filing false returns when under investigation, and she must pay $48,039 in restitution, $4,387 for prosecution costs, and a $4,000 fine.  104.7 KISS FM

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Natrona County gas prices held steady as local prices increased by 0.3 cents to $2.98 while the national average fell to $3.10 (AAA noted Wyoming's statewide average is $3.15).  Oil City News
  • A recent WalletHub study found Casper ranked 7th for affordable rent and Cheyenne placed 3rd—showing that Wyoming residents spend only about 16% of their income on rent compared to steeper rises in other parts of the country.  K2 Radio

  • Evansville Fire EMS promoted three staff members on April 19 — Jeff Parke was appointed Captain of C Shift while Simeon Lambrecht and Kaleb Huxtable advanced to Engineer from the Evansville Internship Program. The ceremony took place at Frontier Brewing Company in Casper among family, friends and colleagues.  Oil City News
