  • The Casper Police Department announced that officers from across Natrona County will host the 5th Annual Police Week Block Party on Wednesday, May 13 from 5 to 7 p.m. at David Street Station (free BBQ, live DJ, games, face painting, and giveaways will add fun to this family-friendly event).  Oil City News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Troopers Legacy Corps is accepting registrations from ages 18 to 74 and beyond for the 2026 season ending with a performance at Drums Along the Rockies in Fort Collins. Rehearsals in Casper begin on June 21 and include a memorial on June 24 (honoring its first director).  Oil City News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Natrona County School District will host its Annual Consolidated Grant Meeting for homeschool families on Wednesday, May 6 at 12:00 p.m. at its Central Services Facility on 970 N. Glenn Road in Casper; lunch is provided (RSVP by calling 307 2535200).  Oil City News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Extreme drought conditions affect Casper + other parts of southeast Wyoming as federal monitors report critical water shortages and significant crop impacts; meteorologist Don Day Jr. said rain chances may bring relief later this weekend into next week.  K2 Radio
  • Wyoming residents can join the CoCoRaHS program to report rain, hail, and snow with free training and low-cost tools, helping to fill the data gap created by few official rain gauges.  K2 Radio
  • Natrona County has imposed Stage One fire restrictions due to warm, dry conditions raising wildfire risks. Residents must avoid open fires and fireworks, though exceptions - such as approved campfires - are allowed if proper clearances are maintained.  K2 Radio

  • Casper City Council approved a loan application on Tuesday to secure a $794,500 zero-interest loan from the Wyoming Business Council for a nearly $3.9M chairlift replacement at Hogadon Basin Ski Area (the project now awaits state board review as additional funding is still needed).  Oil City News
  • Casper City Council approved Tuesday a new funding agreement with the Municipal Band which updates a 20-year-old contract by requiring summer performances at Washington Park (free facility use) and participation in the rodeo parade.
