- ➤ Dennis Arner, a 65-year-old who battles MS and dementia, rides his bike daily in Casper to cope with his illnesses and make a new friend on every ride—he has logged thousands of miles while capturing local landmarks with his camera. He also supports at-risk kids in our community through his ongoing efforts despite his personal challenges. Cowboy State Daily
- ➤ Natrona County teacher Katie Galloway formed a new Wyoming chapter of the Chamber of Mothers to fight for better maternity leave policies in the local school district—she started the group after being forced to use all her paid time off during her own leave and has already held an initial meeting. The chapter will meet next on May 5 at Bookin’ It at 6:30 p.m. as it seeks to build statewide support for mothers. Oil City News
- ➤ Local dog Winnie the Pooh, a four-year-old mini Aussie, was named top dog in the inaugural Oil City's Top Dog contest—started by Fly Casper Alliance board chair Kaycee Witta to help fund Casper College aviation scholarships—and received a gift basket from local businesses. Owner Tassma Powers said Winnie campaigned with daily votes and surprised her with the win. Oil City News

- ➤ Debra Swedberg, a Casper native and longtime math instructor at Casper College, was named the 2025 Casper College Alumni Association Commitment to Excellence award winner. She served the college for nearly four decades in roles such as department chair and STEM program coordinator — earning praise from students who credit her with inspiring success. Oil City News
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ On Saturday, about 500 people took part in Casper’s annual Donor Dash 5K, which raised awareness for organ donation and honored local donors like young Jace Ferre. The event showed that one donor can help save lives — with one donation potentially healing up to 75 people and assisting more than 1,300 individuals waiting for a transplant. Oil City News
