COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Casper’s Boys and Girls Club of Central Wyoming will host its 28th Annual Awards - Recognition Breakfast on Wednesday, Sept. 16 at the Ford Wyoming Center. Coach Ken Carter will deliver a keynote address while local honorees Bob and Celia Kirkwood are celebrated for their community contributions.  K2 Radio
  • Coach Ken Carter will speak at the Boys and Girls Clubs’ 28th Awards and Recognition Breakfast at the Ford Wyoming Center on Wednesday, Sept. 16. The event honors longtime supporters Bob & Celia Kirkwood and is free, although guests are encouraged to donate.  Oil City News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Casper Children's Chorale returned from a Nashville trip where they earned Gold and Adjudicator Awards at the WorldStrides Heritage Festival (highlighting their success). The group will perform their Spring Concert on May 3 at Highland Park Community Church and hold auditions May 17, May 30, and June 2.  Oil City News
  • The second annual Casper Celtic Irish Festival is scheduled for Aug. 28-29 at the Ramkota Hotel. The festival offers Irish music, dance, food, vendors & educational seminars with live demonstrations on Celtic traditions.  Oil City News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Fontenelle Reservoir in Lincoln County remains at 49% capacity this spring as inflows stay below average, prompting local concerns about water restrictions for agriculture and wildlife. The Bureau of Reclamation said no drawdown is planned from Fontenelle even though Flaming Gorge will release up to 1 million acre-feet by April 2027 (for downstream water needs).  Cowboy State Daily

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City of Casper reminds property owners to trim grass, weeds, and vegetation below eight inches as drier weather raises fire risks. Officials advise contacting Code Enforcement (235.8254) for guidance to meet local regulations and reduce potential fire hazards.  Wyoming News Now
  • Casper and other local governments are watching for state water restrictions and planning for higher summer water use in an exceptionally dry year (officials say measures may be implemented if conditions worsen).  Casper Star-Tribune

HEALTH NEWS

  • Banner Wyoming Medical Center will host the annual Spring Into Safety event on Saturday, May 2, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Boys & Girls Club of Central Wyoming, and families can pick up free helmets, life jackets and join safety activities that will help prevent childhood accidents.  Oil City News

  • Wyoming high school boys soccer enters Week 7 with key conference matches scheduled from April 27 to May 2. The season features a rescheduled No.1 versus No.2 Class 3A game and a Casper match between Kelly Walsh and Green River (new rankings will be released Wednesday).  K2 Radio
  • High school girls soccer teams compete in key conference matches this week that will impact playoff positions. Games run Monday, April 27 through Saturday, May 2 at various schools including matchups featuring ranked teams like Cody, Buffalo, Jackson and Star Valley.  K2 Radio
