COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Child Development Center will mark 25 years of its annual Kids’ Art A La Carte on Saturday, May 3 at the Ford Wyoming Center in Casper— a fundraiser that helps pay for preschool, therapies and special education services for over 700 Natrona County children. The event will feature a live auction, car raffle, art auction and raffle packages, and tickets cost $65 while raffle tickets are $25 each or five for $100.  Oil City News

  • Local Spectrum customers in Casper experienced cable TV outages Tuesday, April 29th, and the company said it is working quickly to restore service—customers may get a credit if the outage lasts over four hours.  The Cowboy

CRIME NEWS

  • Mills man Francisco Sosa was accused on April 23 of felony theft after he allegedly stole a $54.49 bottle of whiskey from Second Street Discount Liquor one day after he was released on a $5,000 bond following his guilty plea on April 16 for a previous shoplifting felony.  Oil City News

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Nicolaysen Art Museum has opened a new gallery of over 30 of Ezra Tucker’s acrylic paintings that show scenes from American history and wildlife — works created during his long career in fine art and commercial design. The exhibit runs through June 15 — a chance for local visitors to see Tucker’s unique blend of art and history.  Oil City News

ECONOMY NEWS

  • In the fourth quarter of 2024, the Wyoming Cost of Living Index showed statewide inflation at 4.6% with food and housing costs rising 5.6% while transportation, medical, apparel, and recreation costs increased less. Teton County registered the highest cost compared to the statewide average—its index of 178 indicates expenses were 78% above average.  The Cowboy

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Wildlife managers completed the season-setting process and the Wyoming Game and Fish Commission approved significant hunting season changes at its meeting in Casper last week—these modifications, which include updates to season dates and archery guidelines, will take effect for the 2025 season while hunters have until May 8 for nonresidents and June 2 for residents to adjust their licenses.  Oil City News
