ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Yesterday, Casper experienced cooler temperatures with lingering rain showers and possible snow as the Wyoming Department of Transportation warned of dangerous winds and extreme blow-over risks on Casper Service Road between WY 259 and Ormsby Road and between Casper and Exit 210—restricting high-profile vehicles. Today, forecasts show a warmer and mainly dry trend for Casper. K2 Radio
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Wyoming Game and Fish Department’s Casper region will host meetings to discuss proposed changes to Chapter 22 watercraft regulations and Chapter 46 fishing regulations. The Casper meeting is set for May 12 at 6 p.m.—a meeting in Rawlins will be held on May 14 at 6 p.m. and a virtual meeting on May 19 at 3 p.m., with written comments accepted until June 10. - ➤ Casper will soon start the second phase of improvements to Washington Park after the City Council approved a $1,439,235 contract with Grizzly Excavating and Construction. The work will upgrade park utilities, add new lighting and sidewalks, convert two tennis courts to parking, build six new courts, relocate the park shelter and update landscaping — all to boost the park's facilities. - ➤ Gov. Mark Gordon has donated a wild bison license for a raffle that supports wildlife conservation per the Wyoming Game and Fish Department—tickets cost $10 and were available starting May 1, with the drawing set for June 23 while winners must buy additional stamps and licenses. Oil City News
- ➤ Casper residents will see changes on East 21st Street as the City Council voted to repair and upgrade the road — work will include grinding off old asphalt, laying new pavement, replacing water lines and sewers, fixing sidewalks with ramps, and adding park equipment at Fun Valley Park. Crown Construction was given a $1,333,891 contract to complete the work from Kingsbury Drive to Walsh Drive, with the project set to finish in November. Oil City News
- ➤ Natrona County is recruiting volunteers for its Emergency Communications Team to support crisis response efforts from its new Emergency Operations Center. - ➤ The City of Casper received a $5.6 million grant to replace its aging reservoir with two new water tanks after a 2018 study and a 2020 city plan recommended the upgrade — the grant was approved following a 2024 submission and the remaining funds will come from water fund reserves and a state revolving loan fund.
