COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Casper will host the 5th Annual Brew Fest on Saturday, June 21st at David Street Station from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.—tickets cost $30 in advance and $35 on the day for unlimited beer tastings, live music, food trucks, and yard games. The event is sponsored by Ramshorn Construction and WyoMade and supports free community activities.  K2 Radio
  • The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Wyoming has opened nominations for its 2025 Alumni Hall of Fame to honor alumni who have shown outstanding achievements and commitment to the club’s values. Nominations must be submitted by July 1 and selected honorees will be inducted at a ceremony on Sept. 17 — key dates for recognizing lifelong contributions.  Oil City News

CRIME NEWS

  • On April 28th around midnight, Casper police responded to a 911 call from 37-year-old Jody Renee Cobia who reported a burglary but instead opened her door pointing a firearm—prompting officers to fire—and no burglar was found, with officials saying she appeared to have staged the call before being pronounced dead at Wyoming Medical Center.  Oil City News
  • Just after midnight on April 28, Casper PD responded to a reported burglary at a residence on South McKinley Street and found 37-year-old Jody Cobia, who appeared to call in the report herself—she pointed a firearm at officers and was fatally shot.  104.7 KISS FM

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Six Wyoming students have been named winners of the 2025 National Merit Scholarship program. Additional winners will be announced in June and July — the awards will recognize further academic achievement.  Casper Star-Tribune

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Tuesday, May 6, 2025, the Natrona County Board of County Commissioners approved bills totaling $3 million and an $82K bid for a 3046R tractor from Evansville’s Stotz Equipment—after removing three items from the consent agenda for separate discussion. Additional approvals included ratifying a request by the Casper-Natrona County Health Department for extra construction material testing services and permits for local projects.  Oil City News
