- ➤ Visit Casper announced that Western Fest—an event that kicks off the College National Finals Rodeo—will take place at David Street Station in Casper on June 15 from 6-10 p.m. and will feature a concert, fun zone and vendors serving food, rides and games. The Cowboy
- ➤ The Platte River Trails Trust will host the Spring Cleanup on May 17 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Tate Pumphouse, where volunteers will clear trails and riverbanks + the effort continues the work that turned a 1960s dump into a cherished local landmark. The Cowboy
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Corey Peter Coriddi, 36, was sentenced Tuesday to two and a half to five years in prison for his fourth domestic battery conviction—he hit his mother during a September 20 incident in North Casper and said alcohol took over his actions. Oil City News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Casper City Council will seek a $550K TAP grant to fund a 10-foot-wide concrete pathway along the Platte River that will connect the future Poplar Street pedestrian bridge to the existing path along 1st Street with a grant application deadline of July 15. Public input will be gathered on May 20 and design work will begin soon after, while CFO Tom Brauer said the project has a +10% match+ from $52,305 in city funds and $497,695 from TAP funds. - ➤ On Tuesday, the Natrona County School District 1 Board of Trustees approved contracts for several projects including a $84,952 bid for the Lincoln Elementary playground awarded to Star Playgrounds + a $121,800 bid for a roof replacement awarded to Apex Sheet Metal LLC. The board also approved a maintenance plan with major recommendations totaling $1.27 million for the fiscal year 2024 to 2025 to address key repairs at multiple schools. Oil City News
