- ➤ The City of Casper has extended its Earth Day sale on locally produced compost and woodchips at the Casper Regional Solid Waste Facility through May 30, as community demand increased + the materials will support gardening and water conservation. Oil City News
- ➤ Law enforcement officers from Natrona County will serve as waiters at Texas Roadhouse on June 16 and June 18 (4 to 8 p.m.) to raise funds for Special Olympics of Wyoming. Local community members are invited to join and donate extra tips to support athlete training and competition opportunities. Jack FM
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Dave Nutter (74), a longtime Casper broadcaster, rescued a rare RCA TK15 camera from behind KTWO TV studios decades ago and donated it along with other vintage broadcast equipment to the Texas Museum of Broadcasting in Kilgore, which restored the camera with its own lenses to preserve Casper’s TV history. - ➤ The Casper Children’s Theatre presents The Enchanted Bookshop, a family-friendly show about a magical used bookstore, this weekend at 7 p.m. on Friday & Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday at 949 N. Durbin St., featuring literary characters who help save the store. Oil City News

- ➤ Rocky Mountain Power requested a $70.5 million rate increase to cover rising costs and capital projects, which may raise monthly bills by 8.8% for 150,000 customers pending Public Service Commission review—most of the increase will roll out in March 2027 with a smaller phase in April. - ➤ Casper organizers created Rebel Formal to give early graduates, homeschooled, and online students a chance for a prom celebration. The event is happening today at Oil City Beer Company, and tickets cost $10 (all proceeds support The Jae Foundation for suicide awareness). Oil City News

- ➤ At a May 14 board meeting, Chair Dave North warned that a proposed hydroelectric pump project at Seminoe Reservoir could harm local fisheries and wildlife by altering water temperatures with daily 10,000-12,000 acre-foot water movements, and urged residents to share concerns at a state committee meeting on May 28. - ➤ Casper’s historic Bandshell in Washington Park faces major repairs after 87 years of weather and wear. City officials propose a $1.5 million plan (addressing drainage, ADA improvements, and storage issues) to keep the venue safe for community events. K2 Radio
- ➤ The Casper Planning and Zoning Commission delayed its decision on the incomplete site plan for a 44,590-sqft expansion to Casper Ice Arena at 1801 E. 4th St. until June 11 so the design team can finalize missing details amid pressure to break ground by August. Oil City News
- ➤ The Bureau of Land Management Casper Field Office announced Friday the Black Hills Bentonite Mine Project, an open pit operation on 227 acres in northeast Natrona County — about 38 miles north of Casper, that will run for 20 years and create 12 full-time jobs while environmental impacts are mitigated.
