COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Debra Davis, executive director of Joshua's Storehouse, received a surprise $25,000 donation Tuesday from First Interstate Bank’s Believe in Local program to buy food for the pantry, which now serves about 65 to 70 households a day & supplies have dwindled amid federal grant cuts & Davis said local support will be needed as additional donations are pursued. - ➤ Fourteen hotels in Casper donated 58 rooms and 696 room nights valued at $156,156 to support the College National Finals Rodeo — held at the Ford Wyoming Center from June 15 to 21 — that will welcome 400 college athletes along with their families and fans. K2 Radio
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The National Historic Trails Interpretive Center announced its summer Pioneer Trail Treks, starting on May 31 when participants will meet at 8 a.m. in the Trails Center parking lot before visiting pioneer graves and trails near the Nebraska and Wyoming state line; additional treks are scheduled for June 28, July 19, Aug. 23, and Sept. 27 with participants responsible for transportation and supplies for bad weather. - ➤ Kelly Walsh High School music students choosing to study music in college were honored on College Band Decision Day on May 21—families and music leaders celebrated their achievements and bright futures in music. Oil City News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Senator Cynthia Lummis introduced the Autonomous Vehicle Advancement Act to speed up safe testing and use of self driving cars and to set standards for Level 4 and Level 5 vehicles. The law directs federal agencies to follow a 2016 report’s recommendations within one year — giving the Secretary of Transportation a role in addressing regulatory challenges. K2 Radio
- ➤ The Natrona County Board of County Commissioners met Tuesday in Casper to review legal contracts, road projects, public records fees, and lease renewals on state lands. They approved vacating part of Appian Way with plans for emergency access—by installing gates—and scheduled a June 3 public hearing to discuss county road safety measures. Oil City News
- ➤ Natrona County commissioners reviewed the preliminary FY26 budget of $64.89 million after anticipating a $3 million drop in property tax revenue. They examined requests from several departments—including a 1% increase for the sheriff’s office—and plan to approve a final budget around July 21. Oil City News
REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ Wyoming's fixed mortgage rate holds at 6.75% with 67.6% of 30-year loans under 7%—and the state shows a higher share of 15-year loans under 7% at 90.5% compared to 82.9% nationwide. Home sale prices in Wyoming are $395,000 for 30-year loans and $435,000 for 15-year loans, which are slightly lower and higher respectively than the national medians. Wyoming News Now
