  • Casper will host the first-ever Miss Oil City 1950s Vintage Pin-Up Pageant this Memorial Day weekend with 27 contestants competing for five crowns and a $500 cash prize. The festivities kick off today with a meet-n-greet at Backwards Distilling Company from 7 to 9 p.m. and continue Saturday at 10 a.m. with vendor booths, hot rod displays, and family activities that support local anti-bullying efforts.  Jack FM
  • Local legend Biker Bob Eldredge will host his 6th Annual Bike and Car Show at Horseshoe Bar and Grill on May 31—featuring motorcycles, classic cars, a pin-up contest and a swap meet with fees of $10 for contests, $1 per vote, and $25 per booth. Proceeds will support a mission trip for the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in North Carolina.  The Cowboy

  • Casper's Art Walk returns downtown this summer with free events on June 5, July 10, August 7, and September 4 at 5:30 p.m.—the expanded open container permit now covers the Rail Trail to bring art, music and community together along a variety of local stops including the Nicolaysen Art Museum and participating downtown venues.  104.7 KISS FM

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The section of Highway 130 through the Snowy Range is now open for summer after crews from Laramie, Saratoga, Casper and Cheyenne cleared up to 15-foot snowdrifts since mid-May—drivers are advised to use caution as spring snowstorms may quickly create hazards.  Oil City News
  • White House officials are planning to raise the damage threshold for FEMA help from $1.1 million to $4.4 million — a change that could leave Wyoming towns without federal aid when disasters hurt public infrastructure. An official from the Wyoming Department of Homeland Security said past wildfires and floods have raised concerns — and the department may ask for more state funding if the proposal goes forward.  Oil City News
  • Wyoming's Religious Freedom Restoration Act will take effect on July 1 and may protect Native American students from being barred from wearing traditional regalia at graduation, but it will not help students like Zephira Arguello who graduate on May 30. The state law raises the standard for proving a burden on religious expression and could change dress code enforcement in schools in the future.  Casper Star-Tribune

  • Today, the Casper Spuds kick off their 2025 season at Mike Lansing Field with a game against the Oahe Zap at 6:30 p.m.—a ceremony honoring their 2024 championship and launching the Legacy Club begins at 6:15 p.m. They will finish the first series with games on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m. before starting a four-game series with the Nebraska Prospects on Tuesday.  Oil City News
