COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Charles E. Piersall Chapter of the Izaak Walton League will celebrate its 100th anniversary on June 7th at the IWLA Lodge on the Fort Caspar Campground grounds at 4205 Fort Caspar Road in Casper from 11am to 4pm—featuring a silent auction, BBQ, lodge tours, and family socializing. Founded in 1925—its members have long protected our local natural resources while offering community activities like fishing, archery, and hiking.  Oil City News
  • Casper will host the Balloon Roundup from July 11—13 with daily hot air balloon launches at Mike Sedar Park starting at 6 a.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, weather permitting. The event, presented by Casper Children’s Center, will include a Friday Night Candlestick event at David Street Station from 5 to 8 p.m.—featuring live music, food trucks and local business booths.  Oil City News

  • Heather Elaine Evans — 39 — was sentenced to three to six years on May 22 for helping Kristen McCord bring hundreds of fentanyl pills from Colorado into the community, and she now awaits sentencing for another fentanyl conspiracy charge in Natrona County.  Oil City News

  • Casper’s weekend events include the Ink Masters Tattoo Expo running through Sunday at Ford Wyoming Center with live tattooing and free giveaways—while the 8th Annual Lip Sync Battle took place Friday at WYO Sports Ranch. Today, Cirque Italia Water Circus features shows at 1:30, 4:30, and 7:30 p.m.—and live music with Shari Rowe starts at 4:30 p.m. at The Gaslight Social.  Oil City News

  • Senators Cynthia Lummis and John Hickenlooper introduced the ORBITS Act to clear space debris—this bill will require NASA and other agencies to list dangerous debris, test removal technologies and set standards to protect our satellites. It aims to keep our satellite systems safe for weather forecasting, national security and GPS navigation.  104.7 KISS FM
  • Wyoming lawmakers voted earlier this week to draft a bill that would add a felony charge for adults stalking minors who are at least three years younger—an effort prompted by emotional testimonies from local teens—and the proposal will seek to tighten legal protections for victims in the future.  Casper Star-Tribune
  • Mills, a suburb east of Casper, has long shared a ZIP code with part of Casper causing mail delivery and billing problems—its mayor said Rep. Harriet Hageman is pushing a bill that could give Mills its own ZIP code.  Cowboy State Daily

  • Today the Wyoming Department of Health warned residents to avoid peeing or pooping in pool water—actions that can lead to serious illnesses like salmonellosis and cryptosporidiosis.
