  • Casper residents enjoyed a busy Saturday of local events—baby goat yoga began at 10 a.m. with a $20 ticket that included a free drink, families joined the YMCA Healthy Kids Day for games and giveaways, and High Tea at ART 321 started at 11 a.m. with live music; later, a stand-up comedy show by James Camacho and a graduation concert featuring local bands both took place at 7 p.m.  Oil City News

  • A local insurance company says bad treatment centers in California have tricked Native Americans from Wyoming—luring them with promises of good weather and proper care while leaving them in rundown apartments, and Blue Cross Blue Shield has found hundreds of fake enrollments as it urges lawmakers to allow more time to check suspicious claims.  Cowboy State Daily

ECONOMY NEWS

  • The USDA has closed animal imports from Mexico indefinitely after finding New World Screwworm larvae in cattle from Oaxaca and Veracruz—experts warn the parasite may soon threaten Wyoming cattle and drive up beef prices.  Cowboy State Daily
  • 307 First has placed about 30 western-themed steel silhouettes on Wyoming highways, including a Pony Express rider between Casper and Shoshoni and mountain men near Riverton, to remind drivers to keep money in the state. The group is working with Casper on a new silhouette for a rebuilt town bridge that will boost local business — a sign of its ongoing effort to support Wyoming’s economy.  Cowboy State Daily

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Tribal and school leaders in central Wyoming raised concerns last week that proposed cuts to federal funding for Job Corps, Impact Aid, and Head Start may hurt Native communities and local students. They warned that a pause in Job Corps operations and other funding changes could slow career training and support for at-risk youth—steps that could weaken critical programs.  Oil City News
