BUSINESS NEWS

  • Natrona County Planning and Zoning approved land-use requests on Tuesday — paving the way for a new Love’s Travel Stop near Bar Nunn — by approving a major subdivision that splits 32.47 acres into two lots for a fueling center and convenience store. The Board of County Commissioners will review the proposals on July 1 and staff also approved larger signs to improve driver visibility.  Oil City News

CRIME NEWS

  • John Fowler, a 35-year-old man, was sentenced in Casper to 151 months in prison and 5 years of supervised release on May 29 after law enforcement arrested him in Natrona County following a tip on July 31 that he would travel from Texas with drugs—police recovered 404 grams of meth and 48 grams of cocaine.  K2 Radio

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On June 10th, a rare EA-37B Compass Call military plane landed at Casper/Natrona County Airport—its arrival noted by the airport director near noon. The aircraft, one of only five in service, remains in training with the 55th Wing—its full capability is expected in 2026.  Cowboy State Daily
  • The Casper Area Metropolitan Planning Organization will host an open house to receive feedback on its Robertson Road corridor study from Poison Spider Road to CY Avenue on June 24 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Fort Caspar Museum—written comments can be submitted at the meeting, online, or directly until July 8.  Oil City News
  • Wyoming lawmakers voted to draft bill language that clarifies corner crossing after Carbon County Sheriff Alex Bakken said his officers follow a federal ruling on legal public land access. The Travel, Recreation, Wildlife and Cultural Resources Committee will review the proposal on Aug. 19 in Casper (lobbyists and landowners have raised concerns over changing state statute).  Oil City News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Natrona County Weed and Pest began heavy mosquito surveillance after finding Culex tarsalis mosquitos — carriers of West Nile Virus — near the Casper airport and east of Evansville; they fogged Evansville on Wednesday night and will fog the Sandy lakes area today at sunset using chemicals that protect bees.  Oil City News
