  • The Food Bank of Wyoming received 3,000 pounds of ancient emmer wheat—grown in Ralston—and will begin distributing it via 19 mobile pantries this summer to support families facing food insecurity.  104.7 KISS FM

ECONOMY NEWS

  • The 2017 Census of Agriculture showed Wyoming farms and ranches earned $29.1 million from agritourism and recreational activities while operating on an average of 2,430 acres per farm — the largest in the country — and young producers with new crop programs will work to overcome challenges like harsh climate and market isolation.  104.7 KISS FM

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Casper City Council approved a fiscal year budget with a general fund balance of roughly $56 million and a total budget of $183,702,557; the budget sets aside $32.5 million for public safety and is set to go into effect July 1 through June 30, 2026 — a shift to a priority-based funding plan for daily services like police, fire, streets and parks.  Oil City News
  • The City of Casper is moving forward on the Paradise Valley road trail project by awarding a contract to Gillette-based S&S Builders to build a pedestrian bridge over the North Platte River and lay 300 feet of concrete sidewalk. The contract—totaling $2,140,490 with a $200,000 contingency and funded by Wyoming Department of Transportation TAP grant funds and fifth-cent funds—brings the project into its second phase.  Oil City News
