In 1899, downtown Casper witnessed a three-hour Roman candle fight as local figures fired 3,000 fireworks, causing burns and injuries among participants and bystanders (with store owner Patton and city treasurer VanDoren among the instigators); officials note such events now would prompt swift police action.
Casper artist Rob Piotter has crafted a red, white and blue buffalo sculpture from Wyoming Centennial license plates he collected over decades—displayed at his Rialto Soda Fountain.
He overcame arthritis challenges during its month-long creation, and the piece remains available for purchase.
