COMMUNITY NEWS

  • On Monday, the arena building buzzed with activity as the Central Wyoming Fair & Rodeo week began with animal shows and presentations. Today, the downtown parade starts and the PRCA rodeo will run nightly beginning at 7:30 p.m.—the carnival at the fairgrounds runs from 3 p.m. to midnight, with extended hours on Saturday.  Oil City News

CRIME NEWS

  • Natrona County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting at Alcova Reservoir Saturday night after an argument among campers over an intoxicated driver's actions led an intoxicated Colorado man to allegedly point a rifle at a Casper man — who fired his handgun— injuring the Colorado man and a female bystander; the male victim was released Monday while the woman remains hospitalized with a non-life-threatening leg wound.  Cowboy State Daily
  • On Saturday, July 5, deputies responded to reports of gunshots at Alcova Lake where an altercation among campers led to two people sustaining non-life-threatening leg injuries — an intoxicated man allegedly aimed a rifle at another man, prompting a handgun discharge as deputies detained the shooter and continued the investigation.  Oil City News
  • A Casper man is in jail on four charges—including burglary and theft—after a housesitter saw him through a home security camera.  Casper Star-Tribune
  • Natrona County Sheriffs Office said that on July 5 at 10:30 p.m. at a campground on Kortes Road a shooting erupted when campers tried to stop an intoxicated man from driving—one man fired his handgun, wounding a man with a rifle and a female bystander with serious but non-life-threatening injuries—and the suspect was detained and later released while investigators continue their inquiry.  K2 Radio

  • Today, Wyoming's gas prices averaged $3.08 per gallon (down 4.6 cents from last week) but remained 6.1 cents above last month (with the cheapest at $2.63 and the most expensive at $3.99).  The Cowboy

  • K9 Archer retired from the Mills Police Department after nine years of service, earning more than 500 deployments and over 100 suspect arrests. The police dog now enjoys retirement at home with his partner—Detective Kate Acord.  Oil City News
