Good morning, Casper. Here's your local news at a glance for Sunday, the 13th of July.

COMMUNITY NEWS

  • WyoGives, Wyoming’s largest day of charitable giving, will take place this Wednesday, July 16 to support over 430 local nonprofits that provide services in health, education, and disaster relief — the event, organized by the Wyoming Nonprofit Network, has boosted donations since 2020 with a yearly $1 million gift from the Hughes Charitable Foundation.  Oil City News

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Wyoming’s 307 area code will stay the only one for at least another 20 years because the North American Numbering Plan has shown there are enough phone numbers to meet future needs — keeping local businesses safe from changes. Many local owners proudly use 307 in their names — a strong symbol of Wyoming pride.  Cowboy State Daily

CULTURE NEWS

  • Albert Nelson, Wyoming’s first game warden, fixed wildlife artist Carl Rungius’s broken leg which led the artist to give him the rare painting Last of the Velvet—an oil painting that withstood a 1927 flood and was later kept in good shape by a collector in Arizona.  Cowboy State Daily
  • Chef Vincent Fiore will host his new fall show Cookin’ with Cowboys from Cody, where he will feature cowboy cooking and local attractions while planning additional shoots in Casper. He said the show will celebrate the West — a project that has already drawn local sponsor interest — to bring Wyoming’s heritage to a national audience.  Cowboy State Daily

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Casper College will host its final free walk-in advising, registration and resource fair event on Friday, July 25 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Chapman Lobby—students can meet advisors, register for classes and learn about financial aid, housing and campus life.  Oil City News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Two former patients filed a lawsuit in Natrona County District Court against New Beautiful You, alleging that surgeon Dr. Christopher Stewart provided negligent care that led to severe infections and disfigurement during plastic surgery procedures—separately, on July 1, Dr. Stewart sued the clinic for breach of contract and unpaid compensation exceeding $93,000 for additional duties after the medical director resigned.  Casper Star-Tribune
