ECONOMY NEWS

  • A study from the Natrona Collective Health Trust finds that federal Medicaid cuts in the Big Beautiful Bill will shrink our economy by $140 million over five years and cost almost 200 jobs each year from 2026 to 2030. The report says that sectors like health care, construction, retail and government in Casper and Cheyenne will lose jobs — while Medicaid expansion could add 440 jobs over five years — which may force tough choices for local leaders.  Casper Star-Tribune

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Casper College’s T-Bird Trek will offer runners, walkers, and families four race options including a 5K, 10K and two half-marathons with a virtual option available this fall to support student scholarships and campus programs. Bib and race swag pickup will be held on Saturday, Sept. 6 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. — the event will also feature free musical entertainment and breakfast burritos after the race.  Oil City News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A federal court on Tuesday blocked the BLM from rounding up 3,600 wild horses on public land in southwest Wyoming because it did not show how the plan would keep a thriving natural ecological balance. The case was sent back for further review while the BLM had already postponed the capture — wild horse advocates called the ruling a meaningful check on agency overreach.  Oil City News
  • National Weather Service offices in Cheyenne and Riverton are facing radar connectivity issues due to a network problem near Casper—officials say the fault might be from a fiber cut or a malfunctioning part. Radar data is not reaching all sources, although NOAA weather radios remain unaffected.  Wyoming News Now

HEALTH NEWS

  • Mourning Dove Grief Care has renovated a facility at 245 South Fenway to offer support groups and therapy sessions for local residents coping with loss—allowing anyone to schedule an appointment regardless of their past Hospice experience.
