COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Casper will honor its namesake Lt. Caspar Collins and fallen soldiers on July 26 at Fort Caspar Museum — the ceremony will include a reading of names and a brief service led by veteran groups — marking a tribute to the city's storied military past.  104.7 KISS FM

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Letz’s Appliances, a family business at 642 East Second Street, will expand by converting the former JC Burgers lot into a new warehouse to store overflow appliances, parts, and repair equipment—City Council approved a zoning change last week—and plans to begin work in summer or by the end of next year. The expansion follows delays from the COVID-19 pandemic and supply chain issues that slowed earlier plans.  Oil City News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • On July 16, the Wyoming Game and Fish Commission approved new rules on the North Platte River to cut hook injuries that affect up to one in four trout; the rules allow only single barbless hooks on sections below Seminoe Reservoir and ban pegged attractors on Cardwell and Gray Reef while keeping them on Miracle Mile and Afterbay. The new rules also stop watercraft on a three-mile stretch on Miracle Mile and open public comments on draft rules until July 31—officials say they may add more measures if the data shows improvement.  Oil City News

SPORTS NEWS

  • The College National Finals Rodeo in Casper set a new record by selling 25,912 tickets and contributed $2,962,145 to the local economy from (June 15 to 21).
