- ➤ Casper Police said a group of accused counterfeiters used fake money to buy items for resale + one member waived his right to a preliminary hearing on Wednesday, sending the case to district court. Casper Star-Tribune
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ On Saturday, the Fort Caspar Museum honored Casper namesake Caspar Collins and other 19th century soldiers during a ceremony marking the 160th anniversary of the Battle of Platte Bridge and the Battle of Red Buttes. Local historian Johanna Wickman read the names of the fallen while Natrona County veterans performed a 21-gun salute—additional headstones will be added later this year with sponsors welcomed in-person or online. - ➤ Rae Adamson from Casper College earned fourth place at the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference in Atlanta after completing a six-hour architectural drafting challenge, and her hands-on experience at West Plains Engineering helped sharpen her skills. Oil City News
- ➤ Three Casper College students—Sam Jones, Vince Acquistapace, and Jake Probst—got seventh place at the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference in Atlanta from June 23 to 27 when they had eight hours to copy a set of parts and create full engineering records. - ➤ Casper College students Sam Jones, Vince Acquistapace and Jake Probst finished seventh in an automated manufacturing contest at the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference held June 23-27 in Atlanta — they had eight hours to copy a set of parts using classroom learning and work training from local companies like Mesa Solutions, Hoerbiger Services Inc and NOV. - ➤ The 2024-2025 Casper College Lady Thunderbirds volleyball team was honored with the AVCA Team Academic Award for maintaining a high GPA—one of 11 NJCAA Division I teams recognized for their academic success. The team will play a scrimmage against Northeastern Junior College on Saturday, Aug. 16 at noon in Sterling, Colorado as they prepare for the 2025-26 season. Oil City News

- ➤ Natrona Collective Health Trust hired a consultant to review Banner Health’s management of Wyoming Medical Center in 2024, and the report found that Banner met 13 out of 17 contractual obligations while falling short on safety, patient satisfaction, advisory engagement, and capital investments. Banner Health and Trust representatives promised to address the gaps—county commissioners and community groups remain focused on ensuring Casper receives high-quality care. Oil City News
