CULTURE NEWS

  • The Nicolaysen Art Museum is dedicating the new Mueller Sculpture Garden on Saturday, Aug 2 from 5 to 7 p.m. The free event will feature local artist Chris Navarro’s permanent work, Flight of Hope, — a centerpiece for phase one with plans to rotate exhibits — and refreshments will be served.  Oil City News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Since its report on July26, the Vees Fire in Washakie County has grown to 4,500 acres and led to emergency closures of BLM roads and County Road 58 while firefighters use dozers, helicopters, engines, and hand crews to contain the blaze—additional resources have been ordered to tackle the aggressive wildfire season.  Jack FM
  • The Muddy Fire is 50% contained and has burned 67 acres on State Trust Lands east of Muddy Mountain this morning—firefighters work in steep terrain to secure nearby structures and critical resources in the Casper Mountain area.  Jack FM
  • Firefighters contained the lightning-caused Hiland Wildland Fire near Hiland on Tuesday, July 28 which burned 814.5 acres of grass and sage—no injuries were reported—and officials thanked responders for their efforts.  Oil City News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Natrona County is at a nuclear crossroads as Radiant Industries plans to build a microreactor facility north of Bar Nunn while local lawmakers and residents worry about temporary spent fuel storage that may break state law. The company will change its plans if the law is not amended, and debates over safety, job numbers and environmental risks continue+ local leaders voice strong opposition.  Oil City News

SPORTS NEWS

  • Hundreds attended a Casey Bramlet Day celebration on July 26 where local NFL veteran Casey Bramlet was honored for his upcoming induction into the University of Wyoming Hall of Fame. The event—hosted by the Boys and Girls Club of Central Wyoming and recognized as an official Casper holiday by Mayor Ray Pacheco—featured flag football, speeches, and over 200 meals served.  Oil City News
