- ➤ Bob Price will emcee the Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Wyoming Awards and Recognition Breakfast on Wednesday, September 17 at 6:30 a.m. at the Casper Events Center. - ➤ A Casper man, 56-year-old James Wayne Sack, was sentenced to three and a half to eight years in prison for drunkenly backing his truck into a Frosty’s bar patron on May 22nd, 2024—he was also ordered to pay $2,915 in restitution for the victim’s serious injuries. Oil City News
- ➤ A Casper man was arrested after a 12-hour standoff in North Dakota on Wednesday following reports of a burglary and vehicle damage, where William John Kelley, 43, reportedly threw items from a house and confronted officers with a knife — triggering a shelter-in-place order and evacuations — before he was taken into custody around 9 p.m. Oil City News
- ➤ A 25-year-old woman from Casper was accused of stabbing her mother twice and slashing her tires—after telling investigators her mother was 'a witch with dark energy' and that she expected her to run her over—and made her initial court appearance on Thursday while facing charges of aggravated assault, battery, theft, and property destruction. - ➤ The 2nd Annual Wyoming Fringe Festival will run from August 8 to August 10 in downtown Casper at The Lyric. Local artists and regional performers will showcase theater, music, magic and more—tickets cost $25 for adults, $5 for kids and $10 for students. Oil City News
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Michael Baker, a Kelly Walsh graduate, competed nationally in electrical construction wiring at the 2025 SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference in Atlanta and finished 43rd after gaining hands-on training at Casper College’s Pathways Innovation Center. He plans to join a local electrical contractor when he turns 18 this summer — building on early skills learned while working with his dad — and his success shows the benefit of the new partnership between the school district and the college. - ➤ The Wyoming Chamber of Commerce announced that the 2025 Wyoming State Civics Bee® will be held on Friday, August 8 at 1:00 PM at the Wyoming State Capitol — the event is free and open to the public.
