COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ A groundbreaking event called LaCROSSe Out Violence & Suicide will take place Saturday, Aug. 9 at the Casper Soccer Complex to help youth and the community learn about mental health through a lacrosse tournament, free lunch and vendor booths. Local groups including Central Wyoming Counseling Center and Boys & Girls Clubs are sponsoring the event + it will also feature a talk from Erin Switzer, a Marine Corps veteran known for his role in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. - ➤ On Saturday, August 2nd, a Casper officer stopped a car near West 1st Street at 8:00 p.m. after finding the driver had an active out-of-state warrant and deployed K9 Sisu—who detected 20.5 grams of methamphetamine and other substances. 104.7 KISS FM
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Natrona County School District bus registration is open for the 2025-2026 school year and families must sign up soon since last year's registration will not roll over — update your address on the Parent Portal if you have moved — to help secure accurate bus routes. Jack FM
- ➤ Casper College has named Camron “Cam” Olson as the new athletic director—replacing Paul Marble who stepped down in July. Olson brings over 16 years of college football coaching experience and leadership from previous community college roles—helping him steer the athletics department forward. Wyoming News Now
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Natrona County commissioners met on June 3 at 2:30 p.m. at the courthouse in Casper to review the resubmitted Timber Springs subdivision request by Bottom Rock LLC, two zoning change proposals by Ben Hansuld in Eagle View Simple Subdivision, and a new countywide policy on heavy vehicles. The heavy vehicle policy—designed to limit trucks over 26,000 pounds to no more than two trips per day for safety—and the subdivision request were discussed after residents raised concerns over steep grades and public access. - ➤ Casper officials announced the reopening of K Street between St. Mary Street and Bryan Stock Trail as the final phase of the reconstruction project is complete. Crews (finishing cleanup and removing traffic devices) are concluding work while transit resumes normal service. Wyoming News Now
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ University of Wyoming Athletics announced it will launch a Cowboy-themed bourbon called Pretty Good Horse, produced by Casper-based Backwards Distilling with an initial batch of 1,800 bottles set for a launch party on Aug. 22 before the football season opener — a move that celebrates Wyoming heritage — and the bourbon will be sold in stores and athletic events but not on campus.
