CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Fort Caspar Museum will host Archaeology Day on Aug. 16 from 9 a.m. to noon to explain the local geologic history—attendees aged 8 and up will help volunteers screen soil for artifacts, and all finds will go to the museum. Oil City News
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Radiant Nuclear is planning a small nuclear reactor facility on Natrona County land north of Bar Nunn and holding town halls to explain how TRISO fuel will power the reactor and store waste in dry casks for up to 40 years. Local surveys show mixed community views while officials say the project could create jobs for machinists + welders. Casper Star-Tribune
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Gail Zimmerman, a longtime Casper legislator (served from 1985 to 1999) and Korean War veteran, died today of natural causes at 92. Casper Star-Tribune
- ➤ Casper City Council voted on a contract with Treto Construction for the second phase of the Westridge improvement project at its 6 p.m. meeting on May 20; the work, which included street reconstruction, curb repairs, and ADA compliance upgrades, was expected to be finished by the end of that month. The meeting also covered a public hearing on a replat and rezoning for a planned RV park, a possible land sale to the Bureau of Land Management, and finalizing a new concealed carry policy at City Hall. - ➤ Natrona County has imposed Stage One Fire Restrictions today to reduce wildfire risk by limiting burning activities while allowing campfires in designated fire rings and trash burning from 6 pm to 8 am. All burn permits are suspended until further notice — the measure remains in effect until conditions improve. Jack FM

- ➤ Natrona Collective Health Trust will start its fall grant cycle on Aug. 13th to offer multi-year general operating grants to nonprofits that work in Natrona County. Eligible groups can receive up to $80,000 per year over two years and are invited to apply using their existing online accounts. Oil City News

- ➤ Natrona County commissioners unanimously approved Bottom Rock LLC’s Timber Springs Major Subdivision—a 31-lot development on Casper Mountain spanning 170 acres—after developers resolved steep road grade and easement issues, with access planned via Archery Range Road and KTWO Road on July 1.
