COMMUNITY NEWS

  • After closing due to road and water line work, the National Historic Trails Interpretive Center reopened Friday with a new access route — this lets visitors come in sooner than expected.  Oil City News

CRIME NEWS

  • In fall 1913, Wyoming newspapers reported that the notorious prospector known as the Butting Dane—drunk on chokecherry wine—attacked men at a local homestead along Badwater Creek, prompting a violent shootout in which a 70-year-old local shot him in self-defense and was later acquitted.  Cowboy State Daily
  • Casper foster parent Steven Randall Marler was convicted on 14 counts of sexual abuse, battery, and child endangerment and sentenced to 128 years while receiving 111 days credit for time served—District Attorney Dan Itzen said he anticipated an appeal.  Casper Star-Tribune

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Wyoming Game and Fish said hunters may use trail cameras for photos and videos while live video feeds remain illegal after a South Jackson hunter was fined $550 for using real-time images. • Wyoming homeowners and small businesses face rising energy costs as the 30% tax credit for rooftop solar is set to end and federal funding for programs is in doubt — local advocates warn that low-income residents may suffer more if initiatives like Solar for All and the Home Energy Savings Program are canceled.  Oil City News
