- ➤ Local cooks are preparing for the 7th Annual Wing Ding at the Casper Shrine Club on August 23, where 20 teams will cook over 120 pounds of chicken wings to benefit the Shrine Club—tickets are $15 for adults and $6 for kids. - ➤ A Bar Nunn man, Skyian Janeaux, 22—charged on August 18th—fled police after his truck’s spike-stripped tires flew off during a chase in Casper, as he allegedly drove up to 120 mph and then ran on foot before being arrested. Oil City News
- ➤ David Eugene Osborn, a 53-year-old Casper man, was arrested Tuesday on five counts of theft after an audit revealed he allegedly stole over $138,000 in car parts from his former employer—Extreme Truck Outfitters—between December 2018 and July 15. Police confirmed the arrest in Casper Circuit Court. Cowboy State Daily
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Red Canyon Fire grew to more than 107,000 acres near Thermopolis by Monday, prompting evacuation warnings in rural areas and showing the threat to homes and local facilities. Governor Mark Gordon declared a state of emergency, which allowed federal teams and possible National Guard help to support firefighters as they worked to contain the blaze. Casper Star-Tribune

- ➤ Today, the Wyoming State Geological Survey released an updated Uranium Map that shows interactive details for five active mines, with four in the Powder River Basin and one in the Great Divide Basin using in-situ recovery — the update comes just in time for the Global Uranium Symposium held in Natrona County. - ➤ Casper City Council approved rezoning at 711 E. Collins Drive—this change lets Letz’s Appliance demolish a vacant building and build a new service shop for its business expansion. The council voted Tuesday, and the project will begin in the near future. Oil City News

- ➤ Hogadon Basin Ski Area is now selling season passes for the 2025–2026 ski season online with options for RFID reloads and flexible payment plans.
