EDUCATION NEWS

  • Casper College is asking local residents to submit proposals for noncredit classes for spring 2026—offering courses on topics from local history to health and fitness with proposals due by Sunday, Sept. 14. Proposals must include an educational or historical focus and will run from Jan 26 to May 31 with free support for new instructors.  Jack FM

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Josue Rodriguez Perez, a Cuban immigrant with a past felony conviction, was held in Casper's detention center for 40 days as ICE repeatedly moved him without a clear deportation plan—he expressed deep distress over his ongoing confinement and uncertain future. His case shows how local facilities are being used for immigration detention while legal processes remain unclear.  Oil City News

  • Casper ranked 10th nationally as a top place to retire according to WalletHub because of its low cost of living, outdoor fun, and safe community—making it attractive for seniors. The study compared over 180 cities using 45 key measures—such as affordable housing and low crime rates.  K2 Radio
  • Stahoo's Brewery in Casper will host its 4th annual A.T.F. party this Saturday from noon to 6 p.m.—the event brings local beer, cigars from Casper Cigar Company, and a firearms display with a chance to win an Advantage suppressor.   • Casper will host the Special Olympics Wyoming State Fall Tournament Oct. 8—10 and athletes will compete in bocce, bowling, cycling and soccer at several local sites.
