COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Casper’s first ever DogFest celebrates dogs with a free event set for September 13th from 9 a.m. to noon at the Tate Pumphouse, where pet owners can enjoy vendor booths + agility practice and a costume contest judged by local pup celebrity Mia + enrichment activities and prizes.  Wyoming News Now
  • Casper residents are urging the city to install safer crosswalks near the tennis and pickleball courts at Highland Park on Beverly Street because parked cars force pedestrians to cross unsafely—residents have also mentioned similar issues near the North Casper Sports Complex.  The Cowboy
  • Today, Casper firefighters will honor fallen first responders during the 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb at Ford Wyoming Center. Doors open at 6 a.m. and the climb begins at 7 a.m., lasting until 1 p.m. (the climb represents 110 flights that recall the Twin Towers).  Oil City News
  • Residents in Casper are urging city officials to install proper crosswalks near the tennis and pickleball courts at Highland Park — pedestrians risk crossing Beverly Street between 5th and 7th without safe options. ECONOMY NEWS

  • A report by the National Low Income Housing Coalition shows Wyoming has only five affordable rental homes for every 10 extremely low-income renter households—nations nationwide face a similar shortage. Local officials and housing advocates are planning measures such as subsidies, housing land trusts and tax credits to ease the gap in the market.  Casper Star-Tribune

  • Due to an active law enforcement situation near Badger Lane in Mills, NCSD is holding students who normally get dropped off at Freden Park at the Bus Hub at 136 W. 8th Street until a parent or guardian can pick them up—other bus routes will continue as normal.  Jack FM

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor Gordon supported the DOI decision to modify the Black Butte Mine plan so that an extra 9.2 million tons of federally owned coal can be mined and operations resume through 2039—he also welcomed the move to rescind the Biden Public Lands Rule after his earlier legal challenges. His statement underlines continued energy support for Southwest Wyoming.  Wyoming News Now
  • The Casper Metropolitan Planning Organization is holding a public information meeting on the Robertson Road corridor study on Tuesday, Sept. 30 from 5 to 7 p.m.—the public can review the draft report and share feedback with the study team at the Fort Caspar Museum. Comments will be accepted until Oct. 29 via the study website or at the meeting.  Oil City News

  • Central Wyoming Hospice and Transitions will host A Night Well Spent at Hogadon Lodge on Casper Mountain on Saturday, Sept. 13 — an exclusive five-course dining event with cocktails at 4 p.m. and dinner at 6 p.m. where each $1,500 per couple ticket supports local hospice care.  Oil City News

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • A new report shows that Wyoming ranked #10 in manufactured housing share with 16.4% of new single-family homes based on 320 shipments recorded. Manufactured homes averaged $107,300 in sale price — far lower than the median value of 350,409 for site-built homes.  Wyoming News Now
