  • Tuesday night, two Marine F/A-18 Hornets performed hot refueling at Casper/Natrona County International Airport and produced a deep rumble that local aviation fans felt keenly.   • DogFest is scheduled for Saturday, Sept 13, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Tate Pumphouse in Casper. Platte River Trails will host contests, agility practice, vendor booths, and free food — offering a celebration for dog owners and their pets.  Oil City News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Wyoming Chamber of Commerce Foundation has partnered with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation and opened applications for the 2026 National Civics Bee Wyoming Regional Competitions, inviting 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students to use civics as a tool to improve their communities. Regional contests—hosted by the Greater Cheyenne Chamber, Casper Area Chamber, Thermopolis-Hot Springs Chamber, and Elevate Glenrock—will advance finalists to state finals and then to the National Championship in Washington D.C. in fall 2026 for a grand cash prize.  Oil City News

  • The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is asking local sage grouse hunters to help with conservation by dropping one wing from each bird at roadside drop-off barrels in sagebrush steppe regions—this data will be used after the hunting season from Sept. 20 to Sept. 30 to track grouse health.  Oil City News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • County attorneys argued that a 1988 ruling showed gravel is not a mineral—this means Prism Logistics's leases on Casper Mountain may be treated as commercial leases subject to local zoning rules. Prism must file its reply by Sept. 23 as the county works to slow the development of controversial gravel mines.  Casper Star-Tribune
  • The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is now accepting nominations for the 2026 Outdoor Hall of Fame—an honor for those who have worked to protect Wyoming’s outdoor heritage. Nominations, including a youth category, remain open until March 2026 and will be reviewed in March.  Oil City News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Casper Women’s Care will close its office at 940 East 3rd Street on October 17. The clinic said on Facebook that it made the difficult choice to close and will offer records and help transferring to another provider.  Wyoming News Now
  • Casper resident Scott Higgins, who has Stage Five kidney failure and undergoes dialysis four days a week, is seeking a living kidney donor and financial help to cover his transplant and recovery costs. He is registered with the National Kidney Registry — his sister has volunteered her kidney though a match is not confirmed — and he hopes local support will back his fight to live.  Oil City News
