COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Natrona County’s Shop With A Cop program offers children a chance to shop with a local officer for holiday gifts while meeting key requirements. Families with kids aged 3 to 12 must register by October 15 and will be notified on October 27—ensuring a positive experience for all.  K2 Radio
  • Casper’s Funky Junk block party marks 10 years this Saturday, Sept. 20 at David Street Station as it brings roughly 120 vendors, several food trucks, and live music acts including Pathfinder, Zack Scott, The Bumpin’ Uglies and Rumours: A Fleetwood Mac Tribute. The event features a beer garden—whose proceeds support the venue—and drink options from Backwards Distilling Co.  Oil City News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Casper residents remember the North Platte River being very polluted before a nearly 20-year project by city officials and private donors began cleaning and restoring it.   • The Casper City Council agreed Tuesday to seek a community development block grant for low-income residents and projects, including affordable housing—subject to qualifying income standards—and the Wyoming Housing Network would manage the grant while the city holds oversight.  Oil City News

  • Teacher Margo Warren at Natrona County High School serves as the local liaison for the Jae Foundation, which will distribute cowboy boots this week to seniors and staff—an effort aimed at sparking open dialogue about depression and suicide prevention.  Oil City News

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • The Casper City Council approved the sale of about 4 acres of vacant land between Central Drive and Mesa Path for affordable housing, and the Wyoming Housing Network will build around 40 single unit homes under $100,000—beginning with 10 to 12 homes in the first phase—as the organization will pay for water, sewer and road construction after purchasing the land for $150,000 despite a 2022 appraisal of $300,000.  Oil City News

  • Bar Nunn is hosting the final Wind City No Prep drag race event this Saturday with racers competing for cash prizes and bragging rights—spectators can enter at 8:00 a.m. while road closures start Friday night at 7:00 p.m. and last until the event ends Saturday afternoon.  The Cowboy
