- ➤ Banner Wyoming Medical Center has launched its fifth annual ambulance coloring contest for Natrona County elementary students to submit a drawing of a Wyoming native animal that is different from those on current ambulances—entries must be received by Sept. 28 and a winning design will appear on new ambulances that will debut later this fall. - ➤ This Saturday, Casper VFW Post 9439 will host a pancake breakfast from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Bryan Stock Trail where local veterans serve pancakes, eggs, bacon, and sausage plus admission is $10 for those 13 and older, $5 for ages 12, and free for children under 5+ local veteran organizations will also share information with guests. - ➤ UW at Casper will host a homecoming watch party at Frontier Brewing on Oct. 4 with the UW Pokes vs. UNLV Rebels game. The event starts at 4:30 p.m. with kickoff at 5:30 p.m.—families are invited to enjoy the game on theater screens, taste food from a food truck and receive a free drink token for RSVP’d alumni while additional drinks cost $5. - ➤ Phyllis Hahn, a 95-year-old resident of Casper’s Primrose Retirement Community, took part in the Region 1 Spelling Bee on Sept.22—she answered words using a laptop set up in the facility. She will study a list of words and get ready for the company-wide finals in October. Oil City News
- ➤ Jeremy Jones, the head of the 12-24 Club in Casper, said the free recovery center helps people with addiction through 12-step groups and keeps the space safe. The club will host a Recovery Walk on September 27 at 10 a.m.—meeting at 500 S. Wolcott Street—and a Recovery Rally on October 3 at Best Western Downtown with prizes and a raffle. The Cowboy

EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Natrona County School District 1 Board of Trustees recognized Pineview Elementary and Evansville Elementary for achieving the state’s highest accountability rating—exceeding expectations. Evansville moved up from meeting expectations while Pineview showed steady progress over four years with strong teacher and community support. Oil City News
- ➤ Students, including high schoolers and new enrollees, gathered today at Casper College for STEM Day where they participated in interactive science sessions and a branding ceremony that provided School of Science t-shirts, paint branding plus free root beer floats. 104.7 KISS FM
- ➤ Kelly Walsh High School received a $25K state grant on Monday to buy six handheld Shaper Origin CNC routers for high-tech manufacturing—teacher Kora Huffman was awarded the funds by the Natrona County School District 1 Board of Trustees. The board also thanked Casper Unity and Solidarity Project, Bighorn Audubon Society, and Qdoba for their community donations. Oil City News

- ➤ CASPER, Wyo.—The Casper City Council approved an amendment to update the contract with Sampson Construction on Tuesday for the second phase of turning the old Casper Business Center into the new Casper Police Department station. The phase will add utilities and replace windows and roof at a guaranteed maximum price below the initial prediction, with final approval coming at the Oct. 7 meeting. Oil City News
