COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Casper Mountain Trails Center will host an open house on Oct. 11 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 9301 Casper Mountain Road — locals can enjoy food, see the Casper Nordic Club work party, watch the trail opening, and join raffles for camping gift certificates and Nordic Trail passes.  Oil City News
  • The Wyoming Rescue Mission invites Casper residents to join its 2nd annual Brown Bag Challenge this September—saving money by packing lunch to help fund a hot meal for someone in need. The challenge runs from September 1 through September 30 and comes after nearly 7,000 meals were served last month.  K2 Radio
  • At the club’s Thursday meeting, the Kiwanis Club of Casper named a new leadership team — Jessica Pratt became president to focus on community projects and boost membership while Klark Byrd was named president-elect, Karen Ewart became treasurer, and Marlan Ferguson, Linda Miller, and Jim Hoag filled other officer roles.  Oil City News
  • Super Flea Market will return to Casper on October 4th and 5th—treasure hunters can browse vintage items, collectibles and local treats for $2.50 at Central Wyoming Fair and PRCA Rodeo grounds, hosted by the Casper Antique Collector’s Club from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Jack FM

  • Swaggers Sneakers & Styles opened its new store at Eastridge Mall on September 13 to serve Casper's urban fashion fans. The store offers arcade games — a foosball table and exclusive sneakers that let shoppers avoid long online wait times or distant trips.  The Cowboy

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Wyoming released a new edition of Just the Facts by the Economic Analysis Division to share updated data on demographics, education, the economy, transportation, housing, geography, tourism, agriculture, tax environment and crime and law enforcement. The report shows that Natrona County holds about 13.7% of the state’s population with a median age of 39—Wyoming ranked fourth nationwide for its sheep and lamb population.  K2 Radio
  • The Wyoming Economic Analysis Division released the updated Just the Facts 2024 report that shows Wyoming’s data on demography, education, economy, transportation, housing, tourism, agriculture, tax environment, and crime and law enforcement compared to other states — the report notes Natrona County’s population of 79,941, a median age of 39, a 4th ranking for sheep and lamb populations, and a median household income of $72K.  Jack FM

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today, the Department of Veterans Affairs announced that it has awarded $10,917,945 to Volunteers of America Northern Rockies to help Veterans access housing, health care, financial planning and transportation during fiscal year 2026. The grant is part of $818 million provided nationwide to support Veterans at risk of homelessness—ensuring they receive key services to stay housed.  Oil City News
  • Chairman Bob Kayser said he wanted Natrona commissioners to vote on the $32.4M bond request for Summit Medical Center — a refusal that will add about $10M in extra financing costs over 20 years. Hospital leaders said they may ask the city for help if revenue bonds are not approved.  Casper Star-Tribune
