  • Wyo Bowls food truck owner Courtney Nye opened a second truck in Casper after customers kept asking when she would return—as the new unit debuted at Funky Junk festival with first-time operator Melissa Harmon running weekend service until winter sends the unit back to Saratoga.  Oil City News

CRIME NEWS

  • Wyoming lawmakers will pursue criminal charges against Weston County Clerk Becky Hadlock for allegedly defying a subpoena by not attending Monday's subcommittee meeting in Casper—Hadlock faces a misdemeanor charge that could include a fine up to $100 or six months in county jail.  Oil City News

ECONOMY NEWS

  • The U.S. Bureau of Land Management approved the sale of a 3,508-acre tract holding about 441 million tons of coal in the Powder River Basin and set its auction for Oct. 8. The move supports domestic energy production but may raise concerns about market demand and environmental impacts—especially for Navajo Transitional Energy’s Antelope mine.  Oil City News

  • On Tuesday morning, local residents in Casper, Clark and Powell saw a rare plasma streak called STEVE appear in the sky amid strong auroras following a powerful solar storm—its bright light lasted for up to 30 minutes and showed hints of purple, green and red.   • Casper experienced a change in weather yesterday with sunny skies and a high near 77°F — the National Weather Service reported showers while the Wyoming Department of Transportation warned of an extreme blowover risk on WY 258 that closed high-profile vehicles under 20000 GVW and noted a road closure on I-80 near Arlington until further notice.  The Cowboy

  • Casper-Natrona County International Airport is planning to expand its baggage claim area and relocate rental car counters to make room for a new bag claim device—upgrades also include a new air traffic control tower and helitack base with construction set to begin early next year using FAA funds.  Wyoming News Now
  • The Casper Fire-EMS Department will soon receive a new Zoll X Series advanced cardiac monitor as the Casper City Council approved its purchase during Tuesday’s meeting — the device and its service plan cost $70,298.10 and will be paid for with fiscal year 2026 capital reserve funds — strengthening local emergency care.  Oil City News
  • Casper City Council voted Tuesday to ask for a Homeland Security grant for the police and IT groups to boost cybersecurity *covering all costs with no match needed* and extended another grant for training gear until September 2026 *using pre-cast concrete for added durability*.  Oil City News
  • Today, the Department of Energy announced a $625 million investment to boost Wyoming’s coal industry—opening 13.1 million acres for leasing and updating rules to support production. Senators Barrasso and Lummis said the funding will help local miners and strengthen energy jobs in our communities.  K2 Radio

  • Injury Prevention Resources released a virtual safety session that reminds everyone it takes only 3 seconds to buckle up—every rider must wear a seatbelt to help prevent road deaths and injuries on Wyoming roads.   • Casper golfers can join The Range's indoor fall golf leagues starting October 13 for 10 weeks of simulated rounds on top courses until December 21. Local residents can also visit daily for casual play—enjoying food and beer while staying active as winter weather approaches.  Jack FM

  • On Sunday, former Wyoming teammates Carl Granderson and Josh Allen faced off in NFL Week 4 — Granderson sacked Allen and added five tackles as Buffalo improved to 4-0 while New Orleans fell to 0-4.
