  • Greta Maxfield became the new CEO of Make-A-Wish Wyoming in September — a licensed clinical social worker who grew up in the state and has held leadership roles in several nonprofits. She said she is excited to expand the organization’s wish-granting efforts to bring joy to children with critical illnesses.  104.7 KISS FM
  • A construction crew in Casper discovered an engraved urn locket with ashes—bearing the name Sharon Kay Johnson and the dates 5/10/38 to 10/19/20—on a job site yesterday and is asking locals to contact Michael Clough if they can help reunite it with her family.  Jack FM

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Federal wildlife biologists said 63 grizzlies in the Yellowstone ecosystem have died so far this year—more than last year's pace. Wyoming lawmakers are now taking steps to change rules and remove federal protections for the species—raising concerns as drought and hunting season add stress to the animals.  Oil City News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Laramie resident Jessica Brauer fears her health insurance cost may nearly triple from $325 to $816 per month if Congress does not extend the federal tax credits—leaving over 40,000 Wyoming marketplace enrollees at risk. Local health advocates warn that without swift action before enrollment opens Nov. 1, many Wyomingans could be forced to choose between coverage and other expenses.  Oil City News

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Boys and Girls Club of Central Wyoming has opened registration for its Indoor Soccer program for Casper youth in grades K–9, with the season running from Oct. 27 to Dec. 11 at the Main Club (1701 East K St). Registration costs $45 per player with a $10 discount if enrolled by Oct. 7 and the club is seeking volunteer coaches with no experience required.  Oil City News
  • The Casper Ice Arena ended its rental agreement with the Casper Warbirds on Wednesday after BladeEdge Ventures defaulted on payment obligations— the team will no longer practice or play at the arena while officials share more details as they become available.  Oil City News
  • Casper Recreation Division has opened registration for a new 4v4 adult coed volleyball league starting December 3 with games tentatively set for Wednesday and Thursday nights and divisions for all skill levels. Teams must sign up by November 16 with a $200 entry fee (registration details available from the Division).  Jack FM
