COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Casper is hosting many Halloween events for all ages from Oct. 24 to Oct. 31—ghost tours at Fort Caspar, family trick-or-treating downtown, haunted houses, and themed parties fill the schedule.   • Lord of Lords Lutheran Church on Casper Mountain Road is hosting a trick or treat trail on Oct. 31 where families can enjoy candy plus free hot dogs, chips, and warm drinks. Guests are directed to park in the large lot in front of the church and follow signs along the road.  Oil City News
  • Washington Park in Casper is receiving major renovations — new Pickleball courts will be ready by spring and lighting, bathrooms, and parking are being updated — as part of a three-phase project begun in late 2022 that will also add tennis courts and remodel the bandshell.  The Cowboy
  • Casper Recreation Center is hosting a free Fall Carnival today from 5:30 to 8 p.m. for children twelve and under — featuring carnival games, face painting, a bouncy house, a haunted house and treats like cotton candy, popcorn and snow cones.  104.7 KISS FM

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A pellet stove fire destroyed a home in Midwest on Oct. 24 when two residents woke to the smell of smoke and fled—fire officials said the lack of working smoke detectors and improper stove installation worsened the blaze.  Oil City News

  • Convention season will run from Oct. 27th to Dec. 10th and starts in Casper with the Wyoming Farm to School Conference on Oct. 27th-28th—other state and local meetings will cover ag and water issues, livestock, and business policy.   • Dave's Hot Chicken, a Los Angeles chain known for its chicken tenders and sliders, will open new locations in Casper, Cheyenne, and Laramie in 2026—expanding its menu to the Cowboy State under the Montana Chicken Company.   • Casper is experiencing unseasonably warm October with sunny skies and a high near 65 while a stalled vehicle near Douglas at milepost 52 on WY59 is causing travel delays — drivers are advised to allow extra travel time.  K2 Radio

SPORTS NEWS

  • After a tough loss at Air Force where the Cowboys scored only 21 points, head coach Jay Sawvel fired offensive coordinator Jay Johnson and named wide receivers coach Jovon Bouknight — a change aimed at boosting offense — as the team prepares for the upcoming Border War against Colorado State at War Memorial Stadium. The Cowboys will try to score early and avoid turnovers in the next game.  Jack FM
  • Casper College Running Club will host a free Halloween Costume Run on Oct. 30 at 5 p.m.—the event covers 1.7 miles around campus with registration opening 15 minutes early at the Residence Hall lawn. Participants must wear a Halloween costume and can compete for prizes for best adult male, best adult female, and best children’s costume while receiving candy along the route.  Oil City News
