COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The City of Casper will host a family-friendly Halloween trick-or-treat event on October 31 from 3 to 5 p.m. at City Hall — the Hall of Justice and fire stations will also offer treats for children in costume.  104.7 KISS FM
  • Casper’s Birds N Bucks food drive will run on November 21 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Walmart East—donations of turkeys and cash will be collected to help families in need this Thanksgiving. The food distribution will occur on November 22 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Lifesteps Campus on East 12th Street, with local radio and housing authority teams and volunteers on site.  104.7 KISS FM

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Natrona County School District 1 lost 428 students this year, which has reduced state funding and put pressure on the 2026–2027 budget process. The Board of Trustees set core goals—such as keeping staff pay competitive and facilities maintained—to address these financial challenges.  Oil City News
  • Natrona County School District 1 trustees praised the Jae Foundation partnership on Monday to promote mental health and suicide prevention in local schools. They also approved a $49,500 donation of fitness equipment from Planet Fitness for use in several schools — a move to support student well-being.  Oil City News

  • Casper City Council will consider a new crosswalk today at Poplar and Granada after a Southridge Elementary student was hit and broke his arm in a late August biking accident. The project will cost about $370 (for striping) and $725 (for signage) to improve safety for children.  The Cowboy
  • Casper City Council is considering a new marked crosswalk at Poplar and Granada to boost safety after a Southridge Elementary student was hit by a vehicle in August—he broke his arm and the driver said he was speeding in a busy area with over 500 cars at peak times. The proposed crosswalk, costing about $1,095 in total for striping and signage, is part of an effort to protect cyclists and pedestrians near schools.  K2 Radio
  • Casper was ranked 6 overall in WalletHub’s study of Safest Cities in America—marking the third consecutive year the city has placed in the top ten. City officials said local police, fire, and emergency teams and city workers work together to keep Casper safe.  Wyoming News Now
