  • In Casper, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Wyoming announced that former NFL star Mark Schlereth will be the featured speaker at its annual Reverse Raffle and Auction on Saturday, February 7. The event will include dinner, entertainment, and auctions — all to raise funds for programs that support local youth.  Oil City News

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Oil and gas companies in Powder River Basin are using longer three-mile laterals + wider spacing to lower production costs toward a below-$50 break-even point, which is critical to attracting new capital. Devon drilled the play's first three-mile lateral and Continental completed 33 laterals to boost efficiency + cut costs.  Cowboy State Daily

EDUCATION NEWS

  • NCSD high school students took part in Manufacturing Day in partnership with Casper College and several local business partners — touring manufacturing facilities and learning about jobs in fields like engineering, sales, and maintenance — which gave them a clear view of local career options.  Wyoming News Now
  • Two Kelly Walsh High School students from the Windy City FFA Chapter, Shyann Garbutt and Chayse Schierkolk, earned the American FFA Degree on Nov. 1 in Indianapolis—an honor given to less than 1% of FFA members nationwide. Their award came after they met strict requirements in agricultural education including community service and leadership.  Oil City News

  • The Casper/Natrona County International Airport expects some flights to be cancelled because the FAA and DOT are reducing services at 40 major airports; United and other airlines have already alerted travelers to check their apps (no delays have been reported yet).  Wyoming News Now
  • Wyoming state officials told lawmakers that a new bill may offer farmers and ranchers incentives to cut back on irrigation along the Green River—an effort to manage dwindling Colorado River water supply and avoid forced cuts. The bill will be revisited in January 2026—when state leaders will decide if it should move to the full Legislature for further review.  Cowboy State Daily
  • Casper Airport warns travelers that potential flight delays may occur if a government shutdown affects holiday flights. The airport advises checking flight status with airlines (or signing up for alerts) (to stay informed of any changes).  K2 Radio

  • Casper City Council member Amber Pollock will lead an informational discussion on the city’s budget, property taxes and revenue sources on November 12 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Hosted by Better Wyoming’s Natrona County chapter at the Mental Health Hub—residents will have a chance to ask questions and learn about public funds.  Oil City News
  • The Wyoming Game and Fish Department at the Casper Regional Office held an interactive course on August 29 to show hunters how to collect proper samples for Chronic Wasting Disease testing — experts explained the required tissue for accurate results.  K2 Radio
