COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Wyoming Rescue Mission is seeking donations, including 250 turkeys and essential food items, to serve 21,468 hot meals this holiday season. Food items must be delivered to 230 N. Park St. in Casper by November 19 at noon — donations include pies and rolls that are in short supply.  Oil City News
  • Yesterday, nearly 55,000 customers in central Wyoming lost power when an issue at a transmission facility caused outages that spread into South Dakota—utility crews restored power to about half the affected residents by midafternoon while investigations continued into the cause. Local emergency officials also urged residents to use 911 only for true emergencies as repairs were underway.  Jack FM

  • A GoFundMe campaign was launched after a head-on crash on CY Avenue claimed Mandy Lee Butler’s life on Friday night—police are investigating the role of alcohol while the fundraiser will help her two young sons with living, school, and counseling costs.  K2 Radio
  • A GoFundMe campaign was launched to help the two young sons of Mandy Lee Butler, who died in a head-on crash on CY Avenue shortly after 9:00 p.m. Friday, November 7, when a wrong-way driver collided with another vehicle—police are investigating alcohol as a factor and three others were injured.  104.7 KISS FM

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Casper officials said on Thursday that over 3,000 residents lost power amid widespread outages and advised oxygen-dependent persons to visit designated facilities; the west side facility is at Natrona County High School MAC Facility (930 S. Elm St.) and the east side facility is at Banner Wyoming Medical Center’s East Campus (6550 E. 2nd St.). County Emergency Management will update the information as needed.  Oil City News
  • After a bill restored SNAP funding through September 2026, Wyoming's Department of Family Services reported that no November benefits have been issued as of November 12—officials are monitoring federal funding updates and expect payments to resume once clear instructions are received from federal partners.  The Cowboy
  • Wyoming’s Department of Family Services said no November SNAP benefits are available as of November 12 because it is waiting for federal instructions—families in need should call 2-1-1 for help. The agency said payments will resume soon, but no exact date has been set.  104.7 KISS FM
