COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The annual Festival of Trees and Teddy Bear Tea return next week in Casper to support Special Olympics Wyoming. The free Teddy Bear Tea takes place on November 19 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Best Western Downtown Casper, while the Festival of Trees Gala and Auction begins on November 20 at 5:30 p.m.—tickets cost $100 and include a chance to win a Golden Ticket raffle prize.  Oil City News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Casper’s production of The Nutcracker ballet will celebrate its fifth year on Dec. 13 at 1:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. at Kelly Walsh High School Auditorium—launched in 2021 by Rising Star Tumbling and Dance Studio, the show features local dance students with key roles by KWHS senior Avery Mashek and sophomore Ayva Wilfong.  Oil City News
  • The National Historic Trails Center in Casper is open and will host its annual Holiday on the Homestead event on December 13th from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.—the free event features model train displays, live performances, and hands-on activities for families while additional details will be announced soon.  Wyoming News Now

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Thursday, transmission lines near Medicine Bow tripped, triggering an abnormal voltage event that cascaded across the grid and left about 95,000 customers, including many in Casper, without power. City grids went offline and emergency personnel assisted residents with critical needs — utility crews continue work to restore stable service while a fire at a nearby coal-fired plant was quickly extinguished.  Jack FM

HEALTH NEWS

  • A new white paper by Wyoming Women’s Action Network reported that four hospitals have closed labor and delivery wards since 2022, leaving only 16 birthing facilities across 97,000 square miles. Lawmakers and health experts are urging steps—such as joining national initiatives and using low-cost alert systems—to boost safety for mothers and babies.  Oil City News
  • Four-year-old Jack from Casper, who has had three open-heart surgeries and another to support his heart condition, was granted a wish by Make-A-Wish that took his family on a road trip to Wisconsin Dells for his birthday. He enjoyed riding water slides and exploring the waterpark—a day that turned his dream into a joyful adventure.  The Cowboy

  • Four-year-old Jack—who has a heart condition and has had four surgeries—is on a Make A Wish road trip to Wisconsin Dells to celebrate his birthday and ride water slides with his family. He chose the waterpark from four options using a spinning board, and the trip will bring him many moments of adventure and togetherness.  K2 Radio

  • Taylor Clarkson signed her national letter of intent to play college softball at Dickinson State University and will finish her senior season with Kelly Walsh; she will face tougher competition in college—she aims to build on her top performance.  Oil City News
