COMMUNITY NEWS

  • NOWCAP Services is asking locals to volunteer as homemakers to help older adults and people with disabilities with tasks so they can stay safely at home. Applications can be submitted in person at 345 N. Walsh Drive or by phone at 1-307-237-9146, and open interviews are held Monday–Wednesday at 2 p.m. and Thursday–Friday at 10 a.m.  Oil City News

  • Poncho’s Mexican Food will open a new location in Riverton in the next couple of months, the owner said. The restaurant will serve the same menu as the Casper spots and will be in the remodeled former More Burgers building at 122 S. Second St. East — it is now hiring workers for the new spot.  Oil City News

  • The Kelly Walsh marching band performed at a school board meeting, playing music that energized board members — the performance complemented discussions on school initiatives.  Casper Star-Tribune

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Wyoming road crews work almost year-round to keep highways safe and smooth even as driver surveys rank the roads fourth best, despite harsh weather and heavy truck traffic. The Department of Transportation faces a $600 million funding shortfall—further investment is needed to maintain current quality.  Jack FM
  • The Wyoming Bureau of Land Management announced that Christmas tree permits are available online and at local field offices on weekdays from 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.—the permits cost between $7.50 and $10 per tree and allow up to five trees per person for use on BLM lands only.  Oil City News
  • Albany County Assessor Chelsie Mathews announced that Wyoming homeowners can lower their 2026 property tax bills using two statewide exemptions. Homeowners who are 65 or older and have paid taxes for 25 years on a primary residence must apply by February 1 for the Homeowners Exemption or by the fourth Monday in May for the Long-Term exemption—ensuring they meet the criteria to receive up to a 50% reduction on their tax liability.  Jack FM

  • Konstantinos Mamis, a math professor at the University, was part of a team that won the 13th Integrated Mathematical Oncology Workshop held from November 2nd to 7th in Tampa, Florida. His team’s proposal for a new method to improve CAR-T cell therapy earned a $50,000 pilot grant and may lead to faster personalized cancer treatment — blending AI modeling with restoration ecology principles.  Oil City News

  • Wyoming head coach Jay Sawvel said he will decide in the next few days whether veteran quarterback Kaden Anderson, who has struggled with low yardage and turnovers, or freshman Mason Drube will lead the team in Saturday’s season finale in Honolulu against the Rainbow Warriors—the decision comes after a recent loss by a score of 13 to 7 that marked the third straight defeat, prompting a need to fix the offense.  The Cowboy
